Teen arrested after gunshots fired in the air in parking lot

- What drove someone to fire a gun into the air in the parking lot of Sugar Land Town Square? That is what Sugar Land Police Department investigators are trying to determine.

With help from a license plate recognition camera, police were able to find the driver of a black sedan who witnesses said fired gunshots at around 11 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot on Town Center Boulevard. Several people ran away from the complex after hearing the gunfire. None of the bullets struck anyone and no injuries were reported, but two windows were damaged on the sixth floor of a building nearby.

Officers recovered about ten shell casings fired from more than one weapon.

Detectives used the license plate recognition camera information to find the driver, 19-year-old Missouri City resident Jarodd Deon Wilson, who later confessed to firing a weapon into the air.

Wilson was arrested and charged with deadly conduct, a third-degree felony offense. Detectives believe at least one additional shooter is still at large, leaving the investigation ongoing.

Anyone with information about the fired gunshots are encouraged to contact SLPD by phone at 281-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477 (TIPS).
