Fundraising effort for family of young drive-by shooting victim

- The family of the six-year-old boy who was killed following a drive-by shooting in southeast Houston, which left his older brother hospitalized, is seeking help from the public to help find the killers. The boys' mother, Elizabeth Garcia, announced that whoever can lead them to an arrest are eligible for a $5,000 reward.

“He just keeps asking me, 'Mommy, are they caught whoever did this to me and my little brother?,” Garcia said.

A mother of six children, Garcia said a huge part of her heart is gone. Her 11-year-old son, Manuel Jimenez, remains hospitalized in critical condition. He just found out the sad truth that his younger brother Moses was killed and the murderers remain on the loose.

“I'm just speechless for everything," Garcia pleaded. "I just want justice for my babies whoever knows anything just let us know contact anybody, the news, police.”

The family hopes this message gets to the right ears.

"To turn their self in," Garcia said. "They left my daughter without her twin brother. I believe you have little brothers and little sisters ya'll wouldn't want to go through what my kids are going through.” Moses’ six-year-old twin sister remained glued to her mother’s side.

Randy Hartley, a good Samaritan, came to give the family $2,000.

“When I look around and I see tragedy that happens to innocent families, I just have to step outside the box and pay it forward,” said Hartley. He’s hoping Houston-area residents reach out.

Police believe this was an act of retaliation against one of the family’s older children, possibly even gang related, but Elizabeth Garcia isn’t buying that’s the case. Police are searching for the drivers of both a pickup truck and sedan which they believe is a beige Honda Accord. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston.
