GALVESTON, Texas (FOX 26) - Galveston police say a suspect has been arrested in the shooting of a San Luis Resort security guard who is in critical condition. The suspect has been identified as a gang member from Missouri City. Police are searching for two other suspects in the case.
The security guard was shot at least eleven times behind the San Luis Hotel building at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday as he was making his rounds in the rear parking lot and noticed suspicious activity. Police say he approached three males and one of them opened fire. The three males were able to get away.
The guard was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition. Galveston police say that it is likely that the suspect may have thought the security guard was a Galveston police officer since the uniform he was wearing was similar to the uniform that they were wearing.
