Loved ones remember couple killed by wrong way driver

- Monday was suppose to be Patrick Delane's 50th birthday. But instead of celebrating that, friends and relatives gathered with balloons and candles at the Spring home he shared with his wife Jacquelne.

They were both killed early Sunday by a driver going the wrong way.

"It's my daddy's 50th birthday," Melanie Delane said before bursting into tears.

"We're going to celebrate their life and their memory," said Bryson Brown, Jacquelne's son.

The couple had just left an IHOP and was traveling south on I-45 near Rayford.

Troopers say 32-year-old Allan Bonilla was traveling north in the southbound lane and struck the couple head on. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

"They were happy together. You couldn't catch one without the other. You couldn't pull them apart," Brown said. "She always said she never really traveled until she met Patrick."

Melanie Delane said it was good they went together.

"I don't think either one of them would want to live without the other," she said. "I think it's better that they can stay united forever."

Loved ones are left to wonder why Bonilla was traveling the wrong way on a major freeway. Toxicology results are pending. DPS troopers say the deadly crash remains under investigation.
