Cornyn predicts Senate passage of repeal & replace plan

- Over the last six years, Republicans have crusaded to repeal the Affordable Care Act, nicknamed Obamacare. Few articulate the flaws and failures of the health care plan better than Texas-based U.S. Senator John Cornyn.

"Deductibles have grown to where many people just don't find it affordable and Obamacare is in a meltdown now with insurance companies pulling out and people having fewer choices," said Cornyn. "We think we can do better by making healthcare more affordable and providing more choices."

Now for a little Government 101.

Cornyn is no run-of-the-mill lawmaker. As Majority Whip of the United States Senate, he wields genuine influence, power which makes his prediction about the GOP pending replacement of Obamacare significant.

"We expect to get it in about three weeks and take it up in the Senate and pass it," said Sen. Cornyn.
Its passage some Senators in Cornyn's own party insist won't be won without substantial changes to a measure, they claim, leaves too much of the Affordable Care Act intact.

"The Obamacare-lite plan that is being put forward continues subsidies, continues Obamacare taxes, has a mandate and has insurance bail-out money in it," said Senator Rand Paul. "So, no, I don't think we're at all on the same page on that."

As enforcer of the party line, Cornyn says finding consensus is critical, in other words, Republicans must show the public progress if not perfection.

"We made promises time and time again to repeal and replace Obamacare," said Sen. Cornyn. "Woe be to those who don't keep their promises."

"Failure is not an option," added Sen. Cornyn.
