RodeoHouston just a day away

- It's officially that time of year again, time for the 85th annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. "It really is the culmination of a year of planning by our 33,000 volunteers and our very dedicated staff," says president and CEO of the event and organization Joel Cowley.

Some folks are moving in their animals, preparing them to be shown. Like Thomas Howlewyn and his wife who are grooming their daughter's cattle for Monday's show. "It just builds really good relationships and it's something they take on because they are all wanting to start their own ranch or whatever and stay in agriculture so it's pretty cool," says Howlewyn.

Others have already begun competing like Bella Anderson. "Getting to ride my horses some more, just getting to ride them and have fun", says Anderson who talks about the horse show being her favorite rodeo event.

At the horse show riders show off their cutting skills. The Pattillos are just a few of the many families in town competing in cutting and hoping to make it to the finals. "We are watching my son and my husband, they are cutting today," says Lori Pattillo.

All over the property around NRG Stadium rides are going up and venders are setting up their booths for eager shoppers to come by.

For those that want to prepare in advance for the festivities, don't forget, there's an app for that. "Not only will it help you get in here, take one of our park and rides, the light rail, it also has parking information, which shows the parking lots, the amount of available parking in each of those lots and once you're on site you can actually put your own schedule together with the daily events so that you don't miss any of the action here," says Crowley.
