FRIENDSWOOD, Texas (FOX 26) - Friendswood Police Department and Galveston County District Attorney's Officer are investing an officer-invovled shooting that occured near the intersection of S. Friendswood Drive and Willowick in Friendswood.
Friendswood PD released a statment about the shooting:
At approximately 3:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft in the 100 block of South Friendswood Drive. It was reported that a white male, 45-60 years of age, wearing a white sweater and dark cap stole merchandise and was walking south on S. Friendswood Drive.
A Friendswood officer saw the suspect and encountered the suspect who was armed with a box cutter at the intersection of S. Friendswood and Willowick where the shooting occurred. Friendswood EMS rushed the suspect to a local hospital where he later died.
The shooting is currently under investigation and the identity of the suspect has not been released.
The Friendswood Police Department asks that any citizen who may have witnessed the incident to please call and meet with an investigator to report their eyewitness account.
