BAYTOWN, Texas (FOX 26) - A 62-year-old man was killed in Baytown after a brief police chase that resulted in the fleeing suspect striking another vehicle and killing the driver of that vehicle.
According to police, at about 3 p.m., a Baytown police officer was northbound on SH 146. In front of him a car was driving erratically the officer initiated a traffic stop with lights and sirens. Instead of stopping, the driver sped up.
Driving at a high rate of speed the fleeing motorist hydroplaned from highway and hit a vehicle waiting to enter into the highway t-boning it on the driver’s side. The 62-year-old male driver was killed.
No charges have been filed as of yet, but the driver faces vehicular manslaughter charges. The driver is believed to have been under the influence of a substance that was not alcohol.
