Suspect arrested in Montrose fatal stabbing

- Houston police have arrested Ardie Scott Powell as a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man found at 1203 Lovett Blvd at 3:30 a.m. today.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Corey X. Champmon of Houston. Charges are pending.

HPD released a statement about the early morning stabbing:

HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call and found an unidentified male (Chapmon) lying on the porch area of a business at the above address.  Witnesses told police an unidentified male asked them if the wanted to see a dead body and then left the area on a bicycle.  Officers were then provided a description of the male.

Powell was located later that morning a short distance from the scene on Montrose and taken into custody without incident.  He admitted to his role in Chapmon's death and charges are pending at this time.
