Game room closed, money seized in investigation

- The Houston Police Department is conducting a major investigation into what it calls an illegal gambling operation.

Arrests have been made and more are on the way.

More than a million dollars has been seized from Green Grass game room.

“So far, there is evidence to suggest that the owners have laundered more than a million dollars through this game room,” said Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson. She also said that Green Grass was operated by 59-year-old Chang Ki Choi, who was charged with engaging in organized crime and a felony money laundering offense.

“He was charged and convicted of owning gambling devices in 2012 -- clearly that did not deter him or stop him from opening up his business again,” said Anderson.

The investigation has been ongoing for six months after someone notified law enforcement that large amounts of money were seen going in and out of the building.

“In fact, this morning we found more than a million dollars in cash in the defendant’s home and the game room," added Anderson.

Law enforcement officers not only seized the money, but they are now seizing all of the assets associated with the game room. They are also still investigating the possibility of accomplices.
