Man ends up with Taser spike in back of head after confrontation

- A 34-year-old man ends up with a Taser spike in the back of his head after a confrontation with sheriff's deputies

Sheriff's deputies say the 34-year-old man had driven his car on top of a concrete curb in the parking lot of a bank on Bellaire at Highway 6 South Monday night.

When deputies arrived they say the man became belligerent and even balled up his fist.

One deputy, they said, had the man on the ground and was attempting to handcuff him when the other activated his Taser striking the man in the back of the head.

He also ends up "tasing" the other deputy as well.

"I understand if he had to use a Taser, why in the head? He's a tall guy. I don't understand," said Chris Soto the man's mother. "I want the officer reprimanded. This is not fair, certainly not for a simple automobile accident."

Soto told us her son wasn't able to talk to use because he's still feeling the effects of being tasered.

The man was not arrested and received no criminal charges.

Because the deputy activated his Taser while on duty his supervisor is conducting an investigation.

The sheriff's department tells us it welcomes citizens to visit their internal affairs office and file complaints in person.
