Fort Bend County pee wee coach faces child molestation charges

It's the kind of news no parent ever wants to hear.

Someone whose been entrusted to spend time with children is accused of molesting a child.

That was the news given to some Rosenberg parents Thursday night while their boys practiced for their next Pee Wee football game.

One of their coaches 42-year-old Javier Lopez is charged with sexual abuse of a child continuous under the age of 14.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department tells us Lopez is not suspected of any criminal activity involving football players he coached.

The teams athletic director Jason Hernandez says Lopez had been with his current team for about three years but had been a coach for the Fort Bend County Youth Football league for several years.

The league says Lopez was able to pass a background check because the charges he now faces were filed recently.

As soon as the league was made aware of the charges Lopez was terminated from his coaching duties.
