Dump truck crashes into ambulance carrying patient to hospital, crushes cab

A dump truck  and ambulance carrying a patient to the hospital were involved in a crash, that left the cab of the ambulance crushed.

According to Pasadena police, the accident happened at the east Beltway feeder road and Vista intersection. An ambulance from La Porte was headed westbound on Vista with its lights and siren on, and continued through a stop light.

The dump truck was headed southbound on the Beltway feeder carrying broken concrete. The dump truck driver tried to swerve to avoid the ambulance, rolled over crushing the cab, sending concrete over the road.

According to witness Michael Sharp, multiple drivers pulled over and rushed to help the drivers of both vehicles. Sharp says that he and a group of men pulled the dump truck driver out of the cab, and were able to kill the engine of the truck. The ambulance driver was in shock, but was able to share with other drivers that there was no other passenger in the cab with him.

The driver of the ambulance was not injured, but the patient and attendant in the back of the ambulance suffered severe injuries. All four people involved in the accident were transported to a local hospital.

No fatalities have been reported.
