Houston Restaurant Weeks 2016 website ready to browse

- Beginning on Aug. 1 until Sept. 5, Houston-area residents and visitors can enjoy multi-­course prix-fixe lunch, brunch and dinner and help benefit the Houston Food Bank at the same time. The Houston Restaurant Weeks website features the updated list of more than 200 participating restaurants and their special prix fixe menus are available for diners to browse through in advance and even make reservations.

Other restaurants may be added to the website by no later than Sunday, July 31. Houston Restaurant Weeks has emerged as the fundraising event that benefits the largest food bank in the U.S. The annual charitable event ends on Labor Day, Sept. 5.

Houston Restaurant Weeks raised a record-­breaking $1.9 million for the Houston Food Bank in 2015. Volunteer Cleverley Stone, who also serves as a FOX 26 News content contributor, founded the event in 2003 which has raised more than $7.6 million for the Houston Food Bank, enabling the organization to provide almost 23 million meals for Houston-area residents who are categorized as food insecure.

A team of volunteers runs Houston Restaurant Weeks and 100 percent of the donations provided by participating area restaurants directly benefit the Houston Food Bank.

Multi-­course prix-fixe dinners will be available for either $25 (yielding a $4 donation), $35 (yielding a $5 donation) or $45 (yielding a $7 donation). A $20 brunch or lunch option will result in a $3 donation to the Houston Food Bank, which also partners with the Montgomery County Food Bank and the Galveston
County Food Bank. All donations from restaurants operating in those counties will go to their
respective food banks.
