BAYTOWN, Texas (FOX 26) - A crew is working to put out a fire at a Exxon Mobil Corporation facility on Decker Drive in southeast Harris County, Baytown police have confirmed. No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
Our emergency response teams have responded to a fire at our ExxonMobil Baytown Complex. The fire has been extinguished.
There are no are injuries and everyone is accounted for.
At this time there is no need for the community to shelter in place.
As a precaution, our Industrial Hygiene staff will conduct air quality monitoring around the complex and in the community.
No impact to production.
The corporation later released the following updated statement:
At approximately 4:40 p.m. on April 7, a fire occurred at the ExxonMobil Baytown refinery.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries have been reported.Our first priority remains the safety of our employees and the surrounding community.
As a precaution, our Industrial Hygiene staff continues air quality monitoring at the site and community. Available information shows no adverse impact at this time.
We are cooperating with necessary regulatory agencies, and a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of this incident.
We deeply regret any disruption or inconvenience that this incident may have caused the community.
