HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Mayor Sylvester Turner and advocates against domestic violence launched a campaign at Houston City Hall to unveil 15 Clear Channel Outdoor billboards to be placed throughout the city. The message on the billboards will emphasize the importance of providing services to victims of crime and to increase awareness of them.
The billboards will be available in both English and Spanish. Harris County has the largest number of deaths as a result of domestic violence in Texas. One woman told FOX 26 News that she feels it's her duty to get the message out.
"There are women out there and people that do not make it out," said the woman. "And I can't help but to get emotional when I hear stories like that because it's very unfortunate and I think to myself and I thank God every day that that could've been me."
