Interstate 10 East and West closed at Texas-Louisiana state line

- Eastbound lanes of I- 10 closed early Wednesday at the Texas Louisiana state line.

Louisiana officials halted westbound traffic on Tuesday when water from the swollen Sabine River went across those lanes on the Texas side.

Motorists heading eastbound to Louisiana should use I-20 as an alternate route

For those traveling on I-10 from :

El Paso take I-20 East of Van Horn

San Antonio take I-35 North to I-20 East to Shreveport

Houston take US 59 North to I-20 East to Shreveport

Beaumont take US 96 North to US 59 North to I-20 East to Shreveport

 

Pinehurst Mayor Pete Runnels has issued a mandatory evacuation for residents of city areas who were previously notified of impending floods, which includes residents and businesses near the intersection of Macarthur Drive and Adams Bayou, as well as 29th, 30th, 31st and 33rd Streets, in addition to areas of Camelot, Lancelot, Peacock, Somerset, Enchanted Oaks and Concord previously affected by Hurricane Ike. City of Pinehurst workers are notifying residents individually to contact other affected residents and businesses to make sure everyone is aware of the mandatory evacuation that took effect at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Louisiana State Police have closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the Texas state line and will take charge of westbound traffic flow and diversion. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Texas remain open. The Texas Department of Transportation will continue to monitor the water levels and travelers should be prepared to find alternate routes.
