CLERMONT, FLa. (WOFL FOX 35) - Clermont police said two people are dead after a plane crashed in a field Saturday morning.
Police and Lake Sumter EMS were called to the crash at 2003 Crestridge Drive Saturday morning for a report of a plane down.
Firefighters said the plane crashed in a field between the Skyridge Valley subdivision and South Lake Hospital.
Officials said the plane was a small, two-seater plane.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found two people died in the crash, officials said.
Police later identified both victims. Dean Shaehen, Port Orange, was the pilot and the passenger was James Kos, Oklahoma.
The FAA and NTSB are continuing the investigation trying to determine why the plane crashed.
