Accidents, recalls, an attempted robbery, and a very big hat

A suspected drunk driver slammed into a police car while driving the wrong way on 59 near Lauder overnight. Officers say the wrong way driver tried to make a U-turn to get back into the flow of traffic; as he was trying to get away from police. He hit a Houston police SUV patrol unit and was arrested for drunk driving. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

 

A pickup truck collided with a Metro bus just before 10:00 last night on Studemont and Center Street. Officials say the truck ran a red light and the metro bus hit it. The bus driver was taken to the hospital; the truck driver had minor injuries.

 

Nestle is recalling a number of DiGiorno, Lean Cuisine and Stouffer's products because they may contain glass. Several consumers have reported glass in the products. The company is investigating the source but believes the common ingredient in the products affected is spinach. The recall includes pizzas, Lean Cuisine pizzas, Paninis and raviolis, and Stouffer lasagna and soufflés

 

Trader Joe's is pulling pistachios off the shelf and ordered a nationwide recall for in-shell roasted nuts in a health concern and fear certain packages may be contaminated with salmonella. The used by date codes from October 27, 2016 to November 4th. If you have one of those bags, return it for a refund. Currently, no illnesses have been reported.

 

 A terrifying attempted robbery is caught on camera in Pennsylvania. A taxi driver was held at gun point, while the suspect demanded cash from the driver.  What the gunman doesn’t realize is a sheriff’s deputy was parked right behind the taxi. The deputy turned the lights on and walked up and caught the robber in the act. The suspect has been arrested. He was brought to jail; the taxi driver was not hurt.

 

Also caught on camera, thieves in Redondo Ca stole a massive hat from outside a salon. The huge headgear was inspired by Donald Trump. It reads: make your hair great again! A play on Trump's slogan, “make America great again”.  Police say the thieves and made off with the $2500 hat on their sedan. The owner says that hat isn't supposed to be a political statement but it is a fun marketing idea. It took three of them to lift it off the topiary.
