1 dead, 1 injured in Galveston house fire

Authorities say a house fire has claimed the life of a man in Galveston.

The fire broke out around 8:45 p.m. in the 4300 block of Avenue Q. According to a City of Galveston spokesperson, there were two adults in the home. A male victim passed away and a woman was transported to UTMB, where she is being treated, the spokesperson said.

“This is the type of call that every firefighter fears when the alarm rings,” said Galveston Fire Chief Mike Wisko. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family as they endure this tragic loss.”

The Galveston Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
