HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Many American taxpayers think their tax dollars are not being spent wisely by the government, according to a new survey.
Ahead of Tax Day, WalletHub conducted a “nationally representative” survey of more than 600 taxpayers for their 2019 Taxpayer Survey.
They found that 89 percent of people think the government is not spending their tax dollars wisely.
Also according to the survey, less than 4 in 10 people are happy about President Donald Trump’s tax reforms and 70 percent think they benefit the rich more than the poor.
As for looming Tax Day fears, the survey found that making a math mistake is the biggest fear for 31 percent of people. Not having enough money came in at 28 percent.
What about a future without taxes? For a tax-free future, according to the survey, 38 percent said they would move to a different country, 24 percent would get an “IRS” tattoo and 15 percent would take a vow of celibacy.
