Study: Younger people buying guns for sport instead of protection

- We know Americans are buying guns, but do you know why they buy them?

A Pew Research Center survey gives us some insight. It says people 18 to 29-years-old are buying guns for sport shooting, while older buyers want them for personal protection.

The survey finds two-thirds of gun owners in the United States say they own more than one firearm, with 29 percent owning five or more.

The study also found NRA members are twice as likely to carry a handgun for self-defense throughout the day, compared to gun owners who are not NRA members.
