HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Many consumers forfeit some of their yearly tax refund when they pay someone to do their taxes. But why pay, when there are people who will do it for free?
Most programs require household yearly incomes to be less than $58,000. Some are geared for the elderly population.
Some need an appointment, others you can just walk in.

The IRS has two programs: The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE).
