Small dog survives Hurricane Florence floating on a couch for nearly a week

- A small white dog named Soshe was separated from his owner during Hurricane Florence. His owner was out of state and unable to return to her flooded home. She knew her dog was in trouble so she made a frantic call to The Humane Society of Missouri's Disaster Response Team to help.

The response team made two previous attempts to find the house the flood water was to the rooftops so they decided to go back a third time, but the boat broke down.

The team paddled about a half a mile to the flooded neighborhood, where the water receded enough to find the home.

As the team approached the house they could hear a dog barking inside!

This is video of the dramatic rescue posted to their YouTube page:

The rescue team kicked in the door and found the dog, named Soshe, floating on a couch in the living room.

One rescuer grabbed the dog and they took him to safety.

Soshe quickly devoured a bowl of food, probably his first in a week, and then they gave him a good bath.

Three hours later, a farm owner that knows Soshe's mom came to pick him up to reunite the dog with his owner because she was trapped in another city.

Many thanks to the Humane Society of Missouri for rescuing Soshe and countless others who were trapped during this hurricane.
