Four charged in fight that injured 13-year-old girl in Elgin

ELGIN (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Two women and two teenage girls have been charged after allegedly getting involved in a fight between two girls in northwest suburban Elgin, and leaving a 13-year-old girl seriously injured.

Keisha D. Johnson, 32; and Shamika T. Johnson, 36, both of Elgin, have been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, aggravated battery in a public place and mob action, all felonies, according to Elgin police.

A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were charged with felony aggravated battery and mob action, a statement from police said.

Officers were called at 3:57 p.m. Wednesday after the girl, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries including a concussion, and her parent showed up at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

The girl had been involved in a fight with a group of people in the 200 block of Henry Street, police said. Investigators learned she had been in a fight with a 15-year-old girl, who did not require medical attention.

A video posted online shows the girls fighting, and then several other people, including adults, jumping in. After viewing the video, police identified the people seen hitting the victim and arrested them Thursday night.

Keisha Johnson and Shamika Johnson were each ordered held on $40,000 bonds.
