Dream wedding for kidney cancer patient

Nicole Zimmerman is the quintessential bride, having the time of her life, she has a beautiful gown. flawless makeup, and the perfect wedding day hair under her veil.

It’s those perfectly falling tendrils that curl over her shoulders that first brought Nicole to our attention.

We first met Nicole after a period of disappointment. The then-single mom didn’t have any hair a result of the chemo as she fights kidney cancer.

She was hit with a major disappointment after winning a contest for a custom made wig that she never received.
We watched as Nicole's "hair angel"  Mr. A made sure she had a wig that made her feel beautiful through chemo treatments, to wedding planning, but most of all for her wedding day.

After sharing her story on FOX 26, that act of kindness spurred others. Soon, Fox 26 viewers flooded Facebook; volunteering everything from gowns to DJ services for the late October wedding to her love and son Jaylen's father, Fred.

But then, more disappointment, doctors told the couple the October 25th wedding date, may not be a day Nicole would see.

The team at MD Anderson Cancer Center jumped into action to help Nicole and Fred get married as soon as possible.
She was expecting a simple exchange of vows.
Little did she know, with just 24 hours’ notice, she would not only get a wedding.  But she would look like the princess she wanted to be on her wedding day.

Once again, Nicole's disappointment would be overcome by kindness and love.

The clock was ticking.
Her wedding party changed their schedules and arrived in their formal wear, family members got on the road to make to their seats it in time and MD Anderson nurses and staffers came in on their days off, Fox 26 friends brought flowers and food.
The photographer, Lisa, who heard about the wedding while caring for her brother, also an MD Anderson patient, volunteered her services.
DJ Rob G, from Boom 92 FM, who had donated his skills for the original date, showed up with just hours’ notice.
And the hair angel, Mr. A, brought his glam squad.

All for a moment of beautiful perfection; a bride who could no longer walk down the aisle to say her vows, but insisted on standing for her first dance.

Like most brides and grooms they thanked their guests, danced, and smiled and for a moment, this wasn't a hospital, this was just a dance floor.
