That's where organ donation comes in, to help bring opportunities to children who desperately need a helping hand.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is showing its thanks to donors everywhere with a photo series that shows exactly what a life-saving transplant can do.

The hospital asked parents of patients to share their child doing something they couldn't do before their transplant.

Some of them are simple, the act of eating or going to school. Some are more elaborate – snowboarding or going to Walt Disney World. All of them will probably bring a tear to your eye.

For the family of 6-year-old Everett, who received a heart transplant at the age of three, they're forever grateful they can see him ride a bike.

"There are not adequate words to describe how thankful we are for the life-saving miracle of Everett's donor heart.," Everett's mom Kelly said. "We are forever grateful and humbled to realize that in the midst of another family's tragedy and grief, they had the strength to say yes to organ donation."

More than 116,000 men, women, and children are currently waiting for transplants, a spokesperson for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta said.
