Reconciling with an ex, reaching the 'next level' with women

Ask Mary Jo

This week, viewers have questions about whether it's a good idea to take an ex-boyfriend back and how to get out of the "friend zone" with a girl.

Dear Mary Jo,

A man that I dated and broke up with 6 months ago wants to get back together, but I'm not sure of his motive. What should I do?

Thanks,

"Cautious"

Dear Cautious,

Due to the breakup six months ago you have a wisdom you didn't have before. Go with that. If you're unsure, I'm unsure, and in most cases I advise you to trust your gut. My gut tells me he had/has another girlfriend and he has now broken up with her and is coming back around. There is nothing wrong with meeting him over lunch or dinner, but don't take him home, and don't pick up where you had left off.

Dear Mary Jo,

I'm really good at meeting women, but not really great at getting to the next level of a relationship. How do I get to the next level with a woman?

Thank you,

"Seeking a Relationship"

Dear Seeking a Relationship,

To move into the next stage you have to take a risk. You have to be more obvious with your intention and ask her out on a real date. Go the extra mile, and do what will make her feel special. That means you're going to have to be curious about her and get to know her better. What does she like to do? What makes her laugh? What are her values? When you know these things plan something for the two of you. It's scary going to the next stage because you may get rejected, but it's also possible for the next stage to be awesome.
