Pasadena resident describes how she survived 'The Widow Maker'

- Although it's known as 'The Widow Maker,' the deadliest type of heart attack is not exclusive to men. While driving to work in January 2015, Pasadena resident Lana Marriott suffered such an attack which caused her heart to stop beating seven times.

Marriott was able to drive to her workplace, CHI St. Luke's Health-Patients Medical Center, where her fellow employees, led by cardiologist Dr. Karan Bhalla, were able to save her life. The heart attack that she suffered is known to cause sudden death.

February is American Hearth Month and Marriott's survival story is a reminder that heart disease is more deadly among women than every form of cancer combined.
