HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Cardamom Spiced European Hot Chocolate
Annie Rupani, Cacao & Cardamom
3oz 64% Manjari chocolate
4oz whole milk
1/4 tsp freshly ground cardamom seeds
1/4 tsp Saigon cinnamon
1/4 tsp star anise
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp Ceylon cloves
1/4 vanilla bean
Optional: 1 tablespoon of honey
- Heat the milk with all the spices in a medium sized saucepan.
- Bring the milk to a boil and then turn off the stove, cover the pot, and allow to steep for 10-to-15 minutes.
- Strain the spices out and begin heating the milk again. When the milk is warm, whisk in the chocolate, stirring until melted and steaming hot.
- Taste and add honey if desired.
Serve the hot chocolate warm in a small demitasse cup.
Optional: top with your favorite marshmallows or homemade whipped cream.
