El Tiempo Cantina among Houston Restaurant Weeks participants

Chef Dominic Laurenzo of El Tiempo Cantina is the grandson of legendary Houston restaurateur Mama Ninfa Laurenzo, who founded the original Ninfa's on Navigation. He honors his grandmother's culinary heritage by committing his eight restaurants to Houston Restaurant Weeks, which benefits the Houston Food Bank.

With help from Chef Juan Arellano and Houston Restaurant Weeks chair Cleverley Stone, Chef Dominic Laurenzo demonstrates how to prepare Carnitas Old School from his Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. The dish is described as half-pound of slow-cooked pork chunks flash fried then served with sliced avocado, sour cream and tomatillo salsa served with rice and beans. It is from the HRW three-course dinner menu for $25, which is available all day. The restaurant will donate $4 from each lunch sold to the Houston Food Bank. which will generate 12 meals from this donation.
