11 Year Old Boy Looking For A Family To Adopt Him

Across the Houston area there are 5,000 children in foster care.  Of those, about 1,700 are waiting for permanent, loving homes.

This month, we're featuring 11 year old Kaleb.  He loves gymnastics and wants to be a track star.  Kaleb has been in foster care for about two years after parental rights were terminated due to abuse and/or neglect.

"He's a handsome little boy who is doing very well in his current foster home, but he does want a permanent family.  He would do well with siblings.  He tends to thrive better when there are other children, preferably children who are older, he'd do well there," said Atasha Kelley-Harris, Depelchin Children's Center.

In the days since Hurricane Harvey, Depelchin Children's Center has been working closely with displaced foster families.  They specialize in dealing with children who are struggling and facing trauma.
