Houston mayor honors Travis Scott with 'Astroworld Day' proclamation

- One day after putting on a music festival in Houston, rapper Travis Scott was honored by Mayor Sylvester Turner with a proclamation declaring Sunday, November 18, 2018, "Astroworld Day" in the city.

Scott hosted the Astroworld Festival at NRG Park on Saturday. Thousands attended the festival to see more than a dozen artists perform including Scott, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Young Thug and Rae Sremmurd.

Mayor Turner also recognized Scott, who grew up in Missouri City, as a Houston ambassador for art, education and youth initiatives.

Scott pledged to support city-wide adolescent and youth programs like the Mayor’s Art Scholarship Program, Houston Poet Laureate Program, Hire Houston Youth, My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Houston and Team Up.
