HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Bernard Freeman, better known as Bun B and one half of the southern rap duo UGK, is considered the OG of Third Coast hip-hop. He is well-respected by his entertainment peers and is often brought out on stage by practically every music act that brings their shows through Houston.
Bun B celebrated his silent album release party at Johnny Dang‘s flagship store in southwest Houston. His wife Queenie, who has been by his side for his entire career, happens to be the executive producer of the album and told FOX 26 The News Edge how important it was for her to learn that role. He has inspired many Houston rappers.
Truck Buck has been one of Bun B’s personal bodyguards for thirteen years and told FOX 26 how he has watched him evolve.
Although the other half of UGK, Pimp C, is no longer with us, we know he would be proud. The album is available on Friday, Aug. 31.
