HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The 2016-2017 Houston Symphony season will open with a special performance of 'Peter and the Wolf" including Academy Award-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley as live narrator. The opening night concert and gala is scheduled to take place on Sept. 17.
Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada will conduct the symphony with Kingsley's incomparable voice telling the Prokofiev’s musical story about Peter, a boy who outsmarts a wolf with the help of a duck, a cat and a bird.
Kingsley has also won BAFTA, Grammy and Golden Globe awards throughout his career. Queen Elizabeth II knighted Kingsley in 2002 for his services to the British film industry. He collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1996 for a recording of "Peter and the Wolf" led by Sir Charles Mackerras.
