    1.      What president signed the Act of Congress designating June 14th as National Flag Day?

        In 1949 President Truman designated National Flag Day. In 2004 the U.S. Congress vote to recognize that Flag day originated in Waubeka, Wisconsin.

    2.      What is the name of the Wisconsin school teacher who is known as the "father of Flag Day"

        In 1885, BJ Cigrand, a young teacher at a high school in Waubeka, Wisconsin put a small flag on his desk and told his students to write essays about it. He fought for the rest of his life to formally establish a holiday honoring the U.S. flag.   

     3.     How many times has the U.S. flag been changed?

        The flag has been changed 27 times, the final star for Hawaii was added in 1960.

    4.    What year did the Continental Congress adopt the "Stars and Stripes" as the national flag of the U.S.?

        In 1777 the Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the national flag. The Flag Resolution stated "Resolved: that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."

    5.     How many American flags are there on the moon?

        There are 6 U.S. flags on the moon, each one planted by Apollo missions 11 - 17.
